Monday

Today we trekked to the Student University Center and the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.

First stop the UC

Students scored some Tiger swag! Spirit towels for all!!!  GO TIGERS GO!

Students deliberate in the Senate Chamber!
Cool mics captured EVERYONE'S attention!
A future leader speaks to the people.
Maya having fun.
A beautiful view of the plaza.

Follow the sounds of music to the School of Music!

The director gave us a warm welcome  He was so gracious and excited to see us.
As we left he said;  "That's the best meeting I've had all day!"

Backstage
Every performer must learn to bow!
Illuminated students on stage!
Mr. Washington shows us the music library where we found vinyl on the shelves.
An explanation of how a music student would study.

We sat in on choir practice.
It was interesting to hear them warm up not only their vocal chords but their lips too!
We got to sit in on the Symphonic Band practice.
They played a piece that honored the Peabody Ducks Parade.
A very large band hall.
We clapped to a familiar Tiger Fight Song!
Then to the recording studios!  Where they lay down the tracks.
We got to see/hear the recording of a music artist that recorded a song where he played ALL the instruments.
Sachin made a few astonishing observations about the workings of the sound board!

A student then ended this part of the tour with "where do the CD's come out?"

Thanks Mr. Washington and Mrs. Green for being amazing hosts on our first day of Tiger Trek!
