Monday's Trek

Today we visited a microscope lab, the rooftop greenhouse, and some art murals in the Fogleman building!

First Stop the Microscopy Lab

Ms. Lauren did a few science demonstrations for us!

Students got to make it rain with these shaving cream clouds.
Showing chemical reactions through the lava lamp.

Slime as a state of matter....

Students got to see her melt glass!

Ms. Lauren supports university research by preparing slides for microscopes.  She walked us through the process of how an organ is waxed, sliced, put on a glass slide, and stained.

A look at the slides!

To the microscope!

Up to the roof ... perfect time for an elevator selfie!

Dr. Taller talked plants!  We saw carnivorous plants, plant spores, plants with their own  pond-like ecosystem, carrot research, and cacti/cactuses.

Cactus Room
Dr. T is so nature smart!  Thanks to the biology department for showing our kids a little science at work!

2 kid quotes were...
1.  "Science is cool."
2.  "Science stinks."

To the art murals in the halls of the Fogelman Building.
Meet Cedar, Emmett's dad.  He designed the murals.

Not only are the murals cool but an added bonus of a place to sit and rest.

We had a great first day!  Get some rest and be ready for tomorrow's trek!
